— Nobita mimics Mrs. Gouda's voice.
Gian's mother (ジャイアンの母 Mrs. Gouda) is the mother of Takeshi (Gian) and Jaiko. She's the owner of a small but successful shop, as well as the only person that Gian is deathly afraid of, possibly due to how big and strong she is. Mrs. Gouda's constant abusive punishments suggest that Gian may have inherited his mother's ancestral bullish trait. She mostly remains angry with Gian, but is affectionate to everyone, especially Nobita. She is the owner of a grocery shop and has Gian do the jobs and chores around the grocery shop.
In many episodes, it is seen that Mrs. Gouda has given Gian the responsibility of taking care of the shop, which he often neglects, even bully someone (but mostly Nobita), much to her anger. She does commend Gian if he does his job.
Mrs. Gouda is good friends with Mrs. Nobi, Mrs. Minamoto and Mrs. Honekawa. However, she sometimes cannot stand Mrs. Honekawa due to her constant bragging about her jewelry and cooking skills.
In the 1979 anime, Gian's mother is voiced by Kazuyo Aoki.
Appearance[]
Mrs. Gouda's hair is tied up into a bun and she often wears a green shirt with a brown skirt. She is also muscular, being able to carry heavy various items with ease.
Personality[]
She is very strict when it comes to her son.
Family[]
- Takeshi Goda - Gian is her first son and she is extremely strict and aggressive towards him, likely due to his menacing nature, making him the only person feared by the formidable Gian - He is often severely beaten by her due to neglecting his duties at the grocery store or for other types of intimidation/violence. Otherwise, Mrs. Goda is also kind to him, as she would often prepare Gian's favorite meals for him and Jaiko, and also rewards him if he does his job.
- Jaiko Goda - Jaiko is her only daughter that she genuinely cares and always seems very passive and kind around her due to her good behavior.
- Mr. Gouda - Although their relationship isn't depicted, they presumably have a good relationship as they sometimes take a vacation together, leaving Gian to take care of the house (and Jaiko) by himself.
Trivia[]
- In the 1973 anime, Gian's mother was depicted as deceased, which was retconned in future remakes where she is alive and well. It marks the only occasion where she appeared as such.
- Her first name is yet to be revealed.
